Canterbury Earthquake

The Government has formed a recovery group to help the Canterbury community deal with the aftermath of the earthquake and aftershocks.

MAF has appointed a Rural Co-ordinator to this group.

There are times when an event is beyond a rural community's capacity to cope, and central government assistance may be needed to help communities recover. The On-Farm Adverse Events Recovery Plan provides information on how adverse events are classified and the range of assistance available.
