Managing Your Sustainable Farming Fund Project
Contact Details
The Sustainable Farming Fund (SFF) invests in farmer, grower and forester-led projects that deliver economic, environmental and social benefits to New Zealand’s primary industries. Since 2011, the SFF has been open to aquaculture projects that support economic and environmental performance in the marine and land-based aquaculture sector.
The purpose of the SFF is to support Communities of Interest to undertake applied research and extension projects to tackle a shared problem or to develop a new opportunity. SFF projects are led by rural land owners and managers often with the support of industry organisations, agribusiness, researchers or consultants. Most successful projects are able to leverage a high proportion of other funding or in-kind support to complement the SFF grant.
In 2012 MPI is running a special Sustainable Farming Fund Round for projects that will encourage innovation and resilience in Māori Agribusinesses. Funding of $1 million is available for projects that meet the usual SFF criteria but are targeted to Māori Agribusiness, which includes Forestry and Aquaculture.
The 2013 SFF funding round will operate in a new one phase panel process with all applications now required to be submitted by midday 26 October 2012. Project teams will be advised of the funding decision in March 2013 with an aim of having all projects contracted by the end of May 2013.
2012 Māori Agribusiness funding round opened on 1 August 2012 and closed at midday on 30 August 2012.
The 2013 SFF funding round opened on 20 August 2012 and closed at midday 26 October 2012.
