3 February 2017: Hunter Fish, Otahuhu is recalling its Pacific oysters (whole shell and half shell) sold on or after 14 January 2017 as the products may be affected by a recent norovirus contamination event in the Mahurangi Harbour.

This recall does not affect any other Hunter Fish products or any other products sold by Hunter Fish.

Consumer advice

Affected products should not be consumed. There have been associated reports of norovirus illness in New Zealand. Norovirus gastroenteritis generally presents with vomiting followed by diarrhoea. People who believe they have eaten affected oysters to see their GP if symptoms are severe or persistent or if they are unable to keep hydrated.

Customers should return the products to their retailer for a full refund.
