Fees & charges

You'll be charged for services provided by MPI and other service providers when you're setting up a marine or land-based farm.

What our fees cover

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) calculates fees on a cost-recovery basis.

Activities and services you may be charged for include:

  • annual administrative costs for a fish-farm licence
  • processing an aquaculture decision
  • registration of an aquaculture agreement or compensation declaration.

Not all of the charges listed on this page may apply to you, and there may be other charges not listed here.
