Wood Shavings as Packing Material

Import Permits or Declarations Import permit NOT required.
Certification Requirements Phytosanitary certificate required for wood chips or shavings obtained  from Acer saccharum, Castanea spp., Platanus spp., Populus spp., Quercus spp or from any conifer.

Pre-Shipment Inspections Verification inspection required.
Approved Pre-Shipment Treatments

Must be:

    • shipped in sealed containers or in such a way so as to prevent re-infestation and the product shall be produced exclusively from wood which was stripped of its bark
    • OR

    • fumigated
    • OR

  • kiln dried
Fumigation Fumigated shipboard or in a container prior to shipment
Antisapstain treatments  
Insecticide treatments  
Heat treatments Kiln dried to below 20% moisture content.
Preservative treatments  
Concessional Release None specified for New Zealand.
