Forestry ETS Form - Emissions Return (Transmission)

Purpose of form

To record carbon stock changes for each CAA at the transmission date, in order to calculate an entitlement to receive, or an obligation to pay, emissions units.

Transmission includes land transfer (by way of sale, assignment, or by operation of law), and expiry/termination of a registered forestry right or lease.

Who must use this form and when?

The existing post-1989 forest land participant, whose interest in forest land is being transmitted, must submit this form within 20 working days of the transmission date.

Information you need to complete the form

  • the Lookup Table Guide for information and guidance on how to calculate the net change in carbon stocks for each Carbon Accounting Area (CAA) you wish to include in the emissions return
  • the Climate Change ( Forestry Sector) Regulations 2008, schedule 6, Tables of carbon stock per hectare for post-1989 forest land;
  • the Carbon Accounting Area (CAA) reference numbers previously registered for the participant;
  • the name and contact details of the applicant(s);
  • participant name and holding account number;

Subsequent Obligations

Payment of emissions units ( if applicable).


Options for submitting form

Submit a post - 1989 Emissions Return (Transmission) form by printing, completing and sending it to MPI by postal mail.
