The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's fourth targeted aerial spraying operation
against the painted apple moth in west Auckland was completed late this morning.
With almost perfect weather conditions - low winds and no rain - MAF managed to finish
the 580 hectare spray zone in two consecutive mornings.
The painted apple moth targeted aerial spraying programme supports an intensive ground
spraying operation and is centred on suburbs in parts of Te Atatu South, Glendene, Kelston
and the Waikumete Cemetery. Parts of the Avondale Pensinsula and low-lying land alongside
the north-western motorway between the Te Atatu and Waterview on ramps are also in the
