Didymo has been found in the Ahuriri River in Canterbury, Biosecurity New
Zealand announced today.
A sample taken by the Department of Conservation on Friday was this morning
confirmed as being Didymo.
The sample was from a small colony of Didymo interspersed with native algae,
rather than large blooms of the invasive algae. The find brings the number of
rivers known to be affected to 10.
