Minister's Award

The Associate Minister of Agriculture’s award will recognise those who:

  • are committed to providing good employment conditions in their business or organisation
  • have put in place an effective programme in one or more of the following aspects of good employment:
    • innovative employment practices
    • employee development
    • safe and healthy work environment
  • have shared their ideas and resources among other employers to improve employment conditions in their region

Māori Agribusiness Award

This award will recognise those who identify as a Māori agribusiness and:

  • are committed to providing good employment conditions in their business or organisation
  • have put in place an effective programme in one or more of the following aspects of good employment:
    • innovative employment practices o employee development
    • a safe and healthy work environment.

Innovative Employment Practices Award

This award will recognise those who:

  • are committed to providing good employment conditions in their business or organisation
  • have in place new or innovative programmes, processes, or practices to provide a great work place.

Examples could include an employer who is:

  • giving opportunities for staff to participate in organisational decisions
  • providing a learning culture which recognises and supports the aims and aspirations of all employees
  • demonstrating leadership and a vision that recognises and values employees and their needs
  • providing a workplace where employees can balance work with the rest of their lives.

Employee Development Award

This award will recognise those who:

  • are committed to providing good employment conditions in their business or organisation
  • have put in place an effective employee development programme.

Examples could include an employer who is:

  • providing a fair and unbiased recruitment process
  • informing new employees about the organisation and opportunities available to them
  • supporting the development of all employees through relevant training, coaching, and mentoring
  • providing equal opportunities for all employees to move up and through the organisation in a positive way
  • having a transparent and fair remuneration system which is regularly reviewed, ensures equitable job opportunities and conditions, and recognises employee contributions.

Safe and Healthy Work Environment Award

This award will recognise those who:

  • are committed to providing good employment conditions in their business or organisation
  • have an exemplary standard in relation to employee health, safety and wellbeing.

Examples could include an employer who is:

  • demonstrating commitment to an environment that supports and encourages employee participation in health and safety
  • taking a proactive approach to employee health and wellbeing
  • providing a workplace where employees are safe from harassment and bullying
  • empowering employees by respecting what makes them different.
