Validate your RMP

You must confirm that your RMP is valid. You do this by providing evidence to demonstrate that you are implementing your RMP as written, and that the criteria defining the product's fitness for intended purpose are consistently met.

The regulatory limits (for example, fish at 4ºC) and operator-defined limits are particularly important. If there is not enough evidence to demonstrate the effectiveness of the RMP, you may need to develop a protocol (see below).

If you follow the recommendations in a COP, template, model or other industry manual, you will usually only need to demonstrate consistent compliance with the requirements. You have to prove validation but you do not have to prove that the requirements are valid in the first place.

For more on validation, including validation protocols, see the 'Checks and validation' section of the RMP manual.
