Support for researchers
The European Commission's ERA-NET scheme funds ICT-AGRI. The aim of the scheme is to develop research programmes in specific fields.
The scope of ICT-AGRI call 2017 includes many technologies, including the "internet of things" and automated agricultural machinery. There's potential for the sustainable intensification of primary food production.
MPI has provided NZD$900,000 to support New Zealand researchers who are part of successful ICT-AGRI proposals. These funds draw on the government's support for the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA).
Research focus
ICT-AGRI research focuses on 3 topics:
- Agricultural research on use of sensor data for decision support.
- Application development for precision farming.
- Integration of third-party applications with Farm Management Systems.
We’ll only accept proposals that:
- show alignment with GRA activities on agricultural greenhouse gases research groups
- complement and extend New Zealand's domestic research programme on greenhouse gas mitigation in the agricultural sector.
