Forest Products Export Standards - Phytosanitary Requirements of Jamaica

Wood Products - Packaging

Import Permits or Declarations  
Certification Requirements Wood packaging material and dunnage must be marked in accordance with ISPM 15. Phytosanitary certificate NOT required.
Prohibited Importations  
Bark  Wood packaging material and dunnage must be made of debarked wood in accordance with ISPM 15.
Insects Wood packaging material and dunnage must be free of live wood-boring pests of families:
  • Cerambycidae (longhorn beetle)
  • Buprestidae (jewel beetle)
  • Siricidae (woodwasp)
  • Cossidae (carpenter moth)
  • Curculionidae (weevil)
  • Platypodidae (ambrosia beetle)
  • Sesiidae (clearwing Moth)
  • Scolytidae (bark beetle)

Fumigation Wood packaging material and dunnage must be treated in accordance with ISPM15.

Heat treatments  Wood packaging material and dunnage must be treated in accordance with ISPM15.
Preservative treatments  
Concessional Release Non-compliant ship borne dunnage must be secured on the marine vessel so that pests may not escape while in Jamaican waters (eg. under tarp, cover, within closed holds, containers or bins).
General Unmarked wood packaging and dunnage will be re-exported. Non-compliant wood packaging material and dunnage will be re-exported or treated at the cost of the importer or party of interest. Product associated with non-compliant wood packaging may be allowed entry if it is feasible to separate the cargo from the non-compliant wood packaging material.
