New Zealand science/ science groups
MPI's Food Science and Risk Assessment group actively influences New Zealand food science initiatives by managing or participating in science steering and working groups.
One such group is the Enteric Zoonotic Disease Research Steering Committee (EZDRSC), which aims to promote and advance research into enteric zoonotic disease. This disease affects the stomach or intestines and is spread between animals and people. The EZDRSC has also commissioned projects to provide better infrastructure for mainstream zoonotic disease research and epidemiological investigations. These include the National Typing Database and molecular typing.
See the EZDRSC project reports for the development of laboratory infrastructure:
The Food Safety Science group works with other science providers and funders, including Beef and Lamb New Zealand, Environmental and Scientific Research (ESR), AgResearch, Plant and Food Research, Callaghan Innovation, universities, commercial laboratories, and consultant scientists.
