Importing vertebrate toxic agents

Vertebrate toxic agents (VTAs) are products used to kill or control populations of unwanted mammals, like possums and rabbits. There are strict importing requirements to help ensure public health, food safety, trade in primary produce, and effective pest and disease management.

Importing vertebrate toxic agents

When importing vertebrate toxic agents they must:

  • be New Zealand registered
  • comply with requirements under the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines (ACVM) Act and the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) Act 1996.
