New Zealand Biosecurity Awards
The New Zealand Biosecurity Awards recognise the great work that people all over New Zealand are doing in biosecurity every day.
Entries into the 2020 awards have closed.
Significant Contribution to Food Safety Award
This award recognises an individual, team, or organisation that has made a significant improvement to food safety in New Zealand. This could be for a specific process or operation, for one sector or across a few sectors.
Nominations for 2020 have closed.
Fisheries New Zealand Scholarships
Scholarships are available to both masters and undergraduate students in the fields of fisheries science and marine biology.
The 2020 awards will be presented at Parliament in August.
New Zealand Seafood Sustainability Awards
The awards celebrate industry, tangata whenua, and our communities who are dedicated to ensuring the sustainability of New Zealand’s fisheries and aquaculture. The theme is "Ngā kaitiaki o Tangaroa: Guardians of Seafood".
Entries closed on 24 November 2019. Finalists have been announced.
Ngā Karahipi Uru Rākau – Forestry Scholarships
Available for Māori and/or female students enrolling in a Bachelor of Forestry Science or Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in forest engineering.
Applications have closed for the 2020 scholarships.
New Zealand Food Awards
As part of New Zealand Food Awards, New Zealand Food Safety sponsors the Food Safety Culture Award, and the Primary Sector Products Award.
Nominations are now closed for the 2020 awards.
LEARN scholarships and awards
LEARN is an awards scheme sponsored by the New Zealand Government, through the Ministry for Primary Industries to build international capability in livestock emissions research.
Global Research Alliance Senior Scientist Award: This award supports exchanges between New Zealand scientists and scientists from other Global Research Alliance countries. The award enables collaboration on research into reducing emissions from livestock. You must have a PhD and/or be a scientist with at least 5 years research experience.
Expressions of interest can be submitted at any time.
LEARN co-funded PhD scholarship: Students from developing countries can apply for this scholarship to attend a New Zealand research organisation. You must be enrolled or enrolling in research relating to livestock greenhouse gas mitigation.
This scholarship is currently fully subscribed.
Nuffield Farming Scholarship
Nuffield scholars travel to observe, learn about, and experience agricultural on a global scale. MPI is a sponsor and partner of the Nuffield Farming Scholarship, which is run by the New Zealand Rural Leadership Trust.
Applications have closed for 2020 scholarships.
Postgraduate Science Scholarship
Scholarships are for masters and PhD candidates for research relevant to the primary industries at a New Zealand tertiary education institution.
The winners of the 2020 scholarships were announced in March 2020.
