Draft facility standard for animal products

Legal requirements

The New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) must consult with interested parties in accordance with section 39(1A) of the Biosecurity Act 1993 (the Act) and MPI’s consultation policy before issuing or amending facility standards under section 39 of the Act.

A transitional facility standard sets out the requirements in relation to building, maintaining and operating a transitional facility, and describes how a place becomes approved to this kind of facility.

What's being proposed

A new transitional facility standard for animal products has been developed. The existing standard was formerly part of the MPI Standard for General Transitional Facilities for Uncleared Risk Goods Annex F (Animal Products). A new standard for animal products was developed due to the specific requirements of managing these products. MPI would like your feedback on the proposed changes in this new standard.

How to make a submission

Comments on the draft document should be sent to MPI by close of business on 16 July 2015. MPI prefers to get submissions by email to animalimports@mpi.govt.nz.

Submissions received by the closure date will be considered for the final issue of this facility standard. Submissions received after the closure date may be held on file for consideration when the issued standard is next revised or reviewed.

Note, that your submission is public information. Submissions may be the subject of requests for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). The OIA specifies that information is to be made available to requesters unless there are sufficient grounds for withholding it, as set out in the OIA.
