Following the consultation that closed on 28 April 2023, MPI has issued the final import health standard along with the guidance document and risk management proposal.

Consultation background

From 31 March to 28 April 2023, the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) sought comments on a proposed new import health standard (IHS) for zoo rhinoceroses. The new IHS will replaced 2 existing import health standards for white rhinoceroses.

The IHS specifies the biosecurity requirements that must be met when importing zoo rhinoceroses.
