Proposed changes to the Food Notice: Requirements for Recognised Agencies and Persons

16 October 2023 – New notice and summary of submissions released

Following this consultation, we've released the Food Notice: Requirements for Recognised Agencies and Persons and a summary of the submissions we received. The new Food Notice: Recognised Agencies and Persons sets out the requirements, including technical competencies, for persons or groups of people recognised to carry out evaluation and verification functions and activities under the Food Act 2014.

The new notice will come into force on 16 October 2023, it revokes and replaces:

  • Food Notice: Recognised Agencies and Persons issued on 25 September 2020.

Consultation background

We wanted your feedback on the proposed changes to the Food Notice: Requirements for Recognised Agencies and Persons.

The notice sets out the requirements, including technical competencies, for persons or groups of people recognised by you to carry out evaluation and verification functions and activities under the Food Act 2014.

Submissions closed at 5pm on Wednesday, 7 June 2023.

What was being proposed?

We proposed the following amendments:

  • introduce the rules for directed verification of registered food importers, and
  • update the rules for continuing professional development (CPD), and
  • make general updates throughout the notice.
