Exporter responsibilities

Food exporters have responsibilities to make sure the food they sell is safe to eat and meets all applicable food standards and requirements.  They also have to:

  • comply with the relevant export eligibility requirements
  • report to MPI if their products do not meet New Zealand food standards or are refused entry by a destination country
  • keep the right records.
