Fees and charges for exporting pet food

You'll be charged for services provided by MPI and other service providers when you're exporting pet food.

What our fees cover

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) calculates fees on a cost-recovery basis. Activities and services we charge for include:

  • processing your exporter registration application
  • developing standards for the pet food and animal feed industry
  • issuing an official assurance (export certificate)
  • accessing MPI's electronic certification (E-cert) system
  • registering or amending a risk management programme (RMP).

Not all the charges on this page may apply to you, and there may be other charges not listed here – like storage and transport costs.

If you're exporting pet food containing animal products, you may need access to E-cert. You'll be charged to use this application.
