Te Pātuitanga Ahumoana a Kiwa (Partnerships in Pacific Fisheries) works with government organisations that administer fisheries in Pacific island countries and territories.
Developing fisheries management
Te Pātuitanga Ahumoana a Kiwa leads our Pacific fisheries capacity development programme. The aim is to help the organisations involved to grow their ability to manage their offshore and coastal fisheries.
The service began in 2011 and has partnered with fisheries officials in more than 15 Pacific island countries and territories. Services include:
- needs assessment
- project advice and support
- technical fisheries management and compliance training
- skills development in writing, project, management, and data analysis
- attachments or secondments into the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI)
- career mentoring.
