The Ministry for Primary Industries will present a snapshot of the current position of New Zealand's agricultural sectors at a free seminar at National Fieldays this week.
An MPI speaker will outline the main conclusions from the Situation and Outlook for Primary Industries (SOPI) including the significant and long-reaching affects of the recent drought, the upcoming reform in water management, and a view of the areas for largest potential growth within the agricultural sectors.
"SOPI is one of our flagship publications and is well used by people across the agricultural sector to inform and guide good planning and decision making," says MPI Director General Wayne McNee.
"New Zealand's agricultural sector is poised to make huge productivity and economic gains in the next few years, and SOPI has a big role in providing the latest information and projecting challenges and opportunities.
"This seminar is a 'must do' for sector groups and anyone involved in forward planning. There is time to answer questions, which will also create a valuable discussion across different sectors."
The seminar will be at 9am on Wednesday in the Function Centre next to the Main Pavilion and is one of six free seminars hosted by MPI at Fieldays 2013 . As Premier Feature Partner, MPI also has a stand in the main pavilion, with staff on hand to provide information and answer questions about the Ministry's role to grow and protect the primary industries and its major current priority to support growth in the value of exports.
