Maize lethal necrosis disease in Zea mays seeds
The new rules relate to the imported Zea mays seeds (maize and sweetcorn).
The changes were made to target Maize lethal necrosis disease (MNLD). This is a disease that is increasing in distribution worldwide, and it causes severe yield losses (up to 100%) in susceptible varieties.
The new requirements came into effect on 1 December 2014.
