Let us know if you need to send us files larger than 10MB.
We will then send you a link to a secure file upload system.
New ETS online system from 24 January 2023
The current ETS system will be unavailable from noon, Friday 23 December 2022. It will not come online again after this date. The new ETS online system, Tupu-ake, will be online from 24 January 2023.
What you need to do by 23 December 2022
We are taking care to migrate all complete records to the new system. However, incomplete or draft applications can't be moved.
If you have a draft or incomplete application, you can:
- complete it in the current ETS online system before noon, Friday 23 December, or
- start a new application in the new system, Tupu-ake, from Tuesday 24 January 2023.
If you want to keep a copy of your records from the current system, download them by 23 December 2023.
What to do between 23 December 2022 and 24 January 2023
We will be using manual forms for the transition period between the shutdown of the current system on 23 December 2022 and the launch of Tupu-ake on 24 January 2023.
From 24 January 2023, you can use the new ETS online system, Tupu-ake, to calculate the changes in carbon in your forest land for your emissions return (also known as an “input return”). If your forest land was cleared or replanted, you must ensure that up-to-date maps of these areas are in our system. This will ensure that calculations generated by Tupu-ake for your emissions return are correct.
You can upload the areas of clearing and replanting in your registered forest land by:
- using our in-system mapping tool, or
- uploading a shapefile.
The guidance below is intended for GIS users.
If you don’t submit an accurate emissions return, you could receive a penalty. You may also be prosecuted. If you are convicted of a criminal offence, you could be liable to pay a fine or face imprisonment.
