Manufacturing vertebrate toxic agents
Find out about the requirements you need to meet if you want to manufacture vertebrate toxic agents (VTAs).
What manufacturing includes
Manufacturing (under the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines (ACVM) Act) includes any of the following steps in production of VTAs:
- getting materials
- preparing
- producing
- processing
- assessing and testing (including contract laboratory testing)
- filling, packing, and labelling in a container for sale
- sterilisation.
Requirements for manufacturers
Manufacturers must comply with conditions of the product’s authorisation. This includes manufacturing specifications.
Manufacturing for export
There are no ACVM requirements for export-only VTAs.
Despite this, you must keep VTAs for export separate from products registered for New Zealand use – their requirements are different.
If you want to export VTAs, you may need to meet certification requirements for the importing country.
