Biosecurity Ministerial Advisory Committee
2005 to 2018.
The committee was set up in 2005 to provide high-quality, independent advice to the Government on the performance of New Zealand's biosecurity system.
That advice included topics such as:
- ensuring the biosecurity system supports and protects environmental and human health, social and cultural interests, and growth, innovation and sustainability across primary industries
- opportunities to improve the biosecurity system, especially using a whole-of-system approach to policies and regulations
- efficiency, cost-effectiveness and capability of the biosecurity system
- future trends, risks and issues that may impact on the performance of the biosecurity system.
In 2018, BMAC developed a final report highlighting the key areas that BMAC saw as being foundational to ensure an effective biosecurity system.

Forestry Ministerial Advisory Group
2018 to 2023.
The Forestry Ministerial Advisory Group was set up by the Government in May 2018 as an independent group to consider and provide advice on a range of forestry topics. The group’s focus was on how the Government and industry could work together to develop the sector and deliver on key initiatives.
The group ended in May 2023 because its work was superseded by other events.
The group met 4 times a year to receive briefings from government officials, experts, and industry stakeholders.
The group chair was Dr Warren Parker.

Wool Industry Project Action Group
2018 to 2020.
The Wool Industry Project Action Group was formed out of the 2018 Wool Summit and the subsequent work of the Wool Industry Working Group. The purpose of the group was to be a catalyst for change in the New Zealand wool sector, with a particular focus on strong wool.
In June 2020, the group presented the Minister of Agriculture with a report summarising its findings.
The group’s report – Vision and action for New Zealand’s wool sector – contained 3 key recommendations to lift the performance of the strong wool sector.
- Develop a market-focused investment case and strategic roadmap for the strong wool sector.
- Establish the capability necessary to get the sector match fit and ready for the opportunities ahead.
- Establish a governance and coordination capability.
