The utility of YCS data to estimate adult flounder abundance in the Manukau harbour was investigated using unpublished NIWA juvenile flounder data. Simulation results suggested that these data should be capable of providing estimates of adult biomass. Environmental factors at the time of juvenile settlement on subsequent adult abundance were also investigated. Results showed decreasing oxygen and increasing ammonia and turbidity may have negatively affected recruitment success.
