Carriers must give biosecurity information to passengers
New legislation requires the person in charge of commercial craft carrying 20 or more passengers (excluding crew) to provide biosecurity information to their passengers prior to arriving in New Zealand.
On this page is guidance for airlines to help meet these requirements that apply from 21 October 2023.
Guidance for cruise lines is on another page.
What airlines must do
There are 2 ways to meet the requirements.
- Use the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) supplied content. This can be by playing the MPI provided video or audio or having a crew member read the MPI provided audio script.
- Make your own content to be played or read by a crew member. This must be pre-approved by MPI.
