Recognising those growing native forests
The Growing Native Forests Champions awards aim to:
- celebrate people who are growing native forests
- help others learn about the importance of native forests in New Zealand
- inspire more people to grow native forests.
Recognition and reward
Entries are open now and close on 17 April 2026. We'll be presenting the awards at a ceremony at the National Fieldays event in Hamilton in June.
Award winners in each category will receive:
- a trophy and certificate of achievement
- funding towards travel and accommodation costs to attend the awards ceremony
- tickets to Fieldays 2026
- a chance to say a few words at the awards ceremony
- inclusion in the awards collateral, media, and communications programme.
Who can enter?
The awards are open to people and organisations across New Zealand who are growing native forests.
However, winners of previous Growing Native Forests Champions awards are not eligible to enter.
How to enter
You can enter yourself, or nominate someone else, for the awards.
You can enter up to 2 of the 6 award categories. Information about the categories and criteria is on this page.
