Primary Industries Good Employer Awards 2018

We want to recognise and celebrate employers in the primary sector who are doing a great job. Find out about the awards and how to enter.

Recognising good employment practice

Many employers do a great job. But we want you to help us find those employers who go above and beyond.

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and AGMARDT (The Agricultural and Marketing Research and Development Trust) want to give them the recognition they deserve.

The inaugural MPI AGMARDT Primary Industries Good Employer Awards is looking for primary sector employers or businesses who are:

  • providing great working conditions
  • giving their staff opportunities for upskilling and promotion
  • demonstrating exceptionally good employment practice.

We want to recognise their achievements to encourage all primary industries to provide great places for people to work and grow in their careers.

Making a nomination

Nominees may be individuals, businesses, or organisations that are actively involved in the primary industries or provide support services to the primary industries.

Examples of support services are:

  • fertiliser and pesticide manufacturers
  • equipment manufacturers and repairers
  • transport services
  • professional services like rural consultants.

All nominations must be supported by:

  • a detailed description of the programmes, processes, or practices that have been put in place to provide good employment conditions
  • an explanation of why the nominee deserves to be recognised
  • the names and contact details for the nominator and nominee.

You must get permission from a nominee before entering them for an award. Self-nominations are not accepted. If you are an employee that would like to nominate your employer, consider approaching your industry body, a client or supplier, or another third party to make a nomination on your behalf. The closing date for entries has been extended to 24 August 2018.
