Download FAR 2016/65 Indicator based analysis of the status of eight shark and chimaera species in New Zealand waters

Indicator analyses are conducted for eight non-QMS shark and chimaera species identified as being at high risk from commercial fisheries: carpet shark, Baxter’s dogfish, seal shark, longnose velvet dogfish, Plunket’s shark, leafscale gulper shark, shovelnose dogfish, and longnose spookfish. None of the species showed clear and consistent evidence of recent declines in abundance. However, estimated trends were often uncertain.
