The Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) method of sampling provides a cost-effective, scientifically-rigorous way of measuring plankton community biodiversity, abundance and distribution over large ocean areas and extended time periods. This project was established as the first part of a 15 year time series to monitor primary and secondary productivity in New Zealand waters and the Southern Ocean as part of the SCAR Southern Ocean CPR Survey.
