There are no zoosanitary health requirements for the export of five or less rabbits for non-commercial purposes from NZ to Germany. However, it is recommended that a letter signed by a New Zealand registered veterinarian, within 7-10 days of export, which states that the rabbit intended for export appears to be in good health and fit to travel, accompanies the rabbit during export.
The rabbits will require an AWEC (Animal Welfare Export Certificate) as set out in the Animal Welfare Act 1999. This ensures the welfare of animals is provided for, so that they may travel and arrive in good health. Please contact an Official Veterinarian below for further information regarding issuing an AWEC prior to export.
