A survey of Foveaux Strait oysters (OYU 5) in February 2021 found all the key indicators show continued rebuilding of the fishery. Oyster spat settlement was high. Commercial-sized, recruit, pre-recruit oysters increased 28.3%, 51.2%, 83.6%, and 3.7% respectively since 2020. Increases may in part be due to inter survey variation. Bonamia was low in 2021 with prevalence of infection 5.4%, non-fatal infections 0.7%, and Bonamia mortality 4.3%, all similar to 2020, and likely to be low in 2022.
