Wallaby research, Mātauranga
The lunar cycle can influence animal behaviour affecting activity patterns from breeding, foraging, and navigation. Anecdotal evidence suggests that timing your control activities to coincide with certain moon phase(s) have led to improved management outcomes. This is the first known study in New Zealand, looking at how moon phase and environmental indicators influence wallaby behaviour and whether the outcomes could provide insights in how one could optimise wallaby control and surveillance.
