Environmental samples containing trace genetic material (environmental DNA, or eDNA) can be used to detect the presence of organisms in the surrounding environment. A three-year PhD research project investigated the detectability of wallaby eDNA in air samples collected using air filters and in water samples collected from water bodies across a range of habitat types, wallaby population densities, and distances from wallabies.
