Pursuant to Regulation 17 of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999, Kāti Huirapa Rūnaka ki Puketeraki has applied to the Minister for Primary Industries for a mätaitai reserve for the fisheries waters extending from approximately 45 m west of the wharf at the mouth of Waikouaiti River to the Waikouaiti Fishing Easement; and includes Te Tauraka Poti (Merton Tidal Arm); and Kirikiri Whakahoro (Merton Stream) to approximately 500 m northeast of the intersection of SH1 and Butters Road.
