How to use this dashboard
You can use this dashboard to explore New Zealand and regional:
- current and historic land use, including forestry
- plantation forest resources
- wood availability and wood markets
- economic impacts of forestry and wood processing.
The dashboard shows data in 2 different geographic areas.
- Wood supply regions: used for information about exotic forests, wood availability forecasts, log exports, and domestic log use.
- Regional councils: used for information about land cover, land use capability, gross domestic product (GDP), and workforce data.
The boundaries of wood supply regions and regional councils do not line up exactly. When data from regional councils is added together, the totals may be different from the totals reported for a wood supply region. For example, the combined totals for the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regional councils may not match the total for the Central North Island wood supply region.
