The compounds listed, at the stated dilution, produce a disinfectant solution that has a pH below 3 (acidic) or above 11 (alkaline). The FMD virus is extremely sensitive to changes in pH and solutions achieving these pHs will inactivate the virus.
It should be noted that as the information is voluntarily supplied this list will not be complete. There will be other approved maintenance compounds that achieve the pH requirements. In addition, there may be other disinfectants that can inactivate the FMD virus by means other than pH shift.
