About the 2022 forum
This year’s forum theme is "The future of Aotearoa New Zealand’s biosecurity system". Organised by Biosecurity New Zealand, the forum is an opportunity for everyone interested in and associated with the biosecurity system to discuss the current issues and developments.
Since the last forum in 2018, much has changed in the world and in the biosecurity landscape. A resilient and effective biosecurity system for New Zealand is more important than ever.
By exploring key biosecurity and global developments over the past 4 years, we will look to the future, to how biosecurity can continue to protect those things that are precious to all New Zealanders for future generations.
In Aotearoa New Zealand, tāngata whenua have been practising biosecurity for centuries. An effective biosecurity partnership with Māori enables our biosecurity system to incorporate the concepts of mātauranga and kaitiakitanga.
There will also be the opportunity to hear more and connect with work being done on the biosecurity system’s strategic direction. Building on Biosecurity 2025, the new strategic direction proposes 6 strategic priorities or themes for the biosecurity system, with a new vision and mission.
Thank you to our Forum Partners, the Government Industry Agreement for Biosecurity Readiness and Response (GIA) and the Department of Conservation for their ongoing support of this event.
