Novel agricultural and veterinary product approvals

Agricultural chemicals

• Lumiposa: An insecticide, applied as a seed treatment, to reduce damage to maize seedlings by certain establishment pests.
• Vibrance Premium: A broad-spectrum fungicide that can be used to control black scurf, silver scurf, black dot, gangrene, and fusarium dry rot in potato seed tubers. It also suppresses common scab.
• Actavan Bio: A natural elicitor that enhances the plant’s defences in vine grapes, increasing their resistance to Botrytis infection.

Veterinary medicines

• Felpreva Spot-On for Cats: A topical formulation for treating parasites in cats, including fleas, ear mites, roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, and lungworm. It also reduces the incidence of flea allergy dermatitis. This is an Australia-New Zealand harmonised product.
• Scorpius Attack Spot-on: A topical formulation for the treatment and control of susceptible gastrointestinal roundworms and lungworms in crossbred sheep.
• Tessie 0.3 mg/mL Oral Solution for Dogs: An oral formulation for short-term alleviation of situational anxiety and fear triggered by noise or separation in dogs. This is an Australia-New Zealand harmonised product.
• Purevax 2, Purevax 3 and Purevax 4:  Vaccines for the active immunisation of cats against feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, chlamydia, and panleukopenia.
• Clevor 30 mg/mL Eye Drops Solution: A topical formulation administered as an eye drop to induce vomiting in dogs.

From 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025, MPI approved 21 novel products – 6 agricultural chemicals, 14 veterinary medicines, and 1 vertebrate toxic agent.

Agricultural chemicals

• Tower: A pre-emergence herbicide for controlling certain broadleaf and grass weeds in wheat and barley sown in autumn/winter and spring.
• Sivanto Prime: A systemic insecticide for the control of springtails, nysius, and green peach aphid in forage brassicas and fodder beet.
• N-Protect: An inhibitor to slow the conversion of nitrogen in urea to ammonia gas (ammonia volatilisation), which is lost to the atmosphere.
• Flexi-N (NBPT): An inhibitor to slow ammonia volatilisation for mixing with superphosphate-based fertilisers.
• TwinGuard: An insecticide for the control of caterpillars, leaf miners, springtails, aphids, and Nysius huttoni in forage brassicas.
• VarroxSan: A pest-control product for in-hive control of varroosis due to Varroa destructor in honeybees.

Veterinary medicines

• Anpro Advance: A powder formulation administered in feed to aid in the reduction of mycotoxin absorption from feed for pigs, poultry (broilers), cattle and sheep.
• Avian Influenza Vaccine H5N2 Subtype Killed Virus: An avian influenza vaccine registered to MPI Biosecurity. Approved for use in chickens to stimulate immunity against high pathogenicity avian influenza virus H5 subtype and help reduce mortality. To be used by MPI in case of an outbreak.
• Biocan Novel DHPPi: A vaccine for healthy dogs to help prevent disease caused by canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus type 1, canine adenovirus type 2, canine parvovirus, and canine parainfluenza virus.
• Bovilis Cryptium: A vaccine for the active immunisation of pregnant heifers and cows to raise antibodies in their colostrum against the parasite Cryptosporidium parvum, intended for passive immunisation of calves.
• Bravecto 1-Month Triple: A topical formulation for the control of fleas, ticks and gastrointestinal nematodes in dogs.
• Dermcare Barazone 0.25 g/L Budesonide Leave-on Conditioner: A topical formulation for treating symptoms of canine atopic dermatitis, contact allergy, and other itchy conditions in dogs.
• Duotic Ear Gel for Dogs: A topical formulation administered into the ear to help treat moderate otitis externa in dogs associated with susceptible strains of yeast (Malassezia pachydermatis).
• Felimazole 5 mg/mL Oral Solution: An oral liquid formulation for the long-term treatment of hyperthyroidism in cats or to stabilise hyperthyroidism in cats prior to radioactive iodine treatment or surgical thyroidectomy.
• FIL Milkers Wipes: Sanitising teat wipes to clean teats prior to milking, milk sampling, or administering intramammary products to dairy animals.
• Numelvi: A tablet formulation for treating itchiness associated with allergic dermatitis, including atopic dermatitis, in dogs. Also treats inflammation and clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs.
• Thyronorm Oral Solution for Cats: An oral liquid formulation for the long-term treatment of hyperthyroidism in cats or to stabilise hyperthyroidism in cats prior to surgical thyroidectomy.
• Zamichlor Soluble: An antibiotic formulation administered in feed to treat respiratory and systemic bacterial infections of chickens and turkeys.
• Zenalpha Injection for Dogs: A sedative and analgesic formulation to facilitate clinical examinations, clinical procedures, and minor surgical procedures in dogs.
• Zenrelia: A medication for treating itchiness associated with allergic dermatitis in dogs. Also treats clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs.

Vertebrate toxic agent

• Evolve Soft Bait: A contraceptive bait to reduce fertility in rats.
