Manufacturers must meet food safety requirements
There are food safety requirements you must meet if you manufacture dairy-based:
- infant formula products (for example, infant formula and follow-on formula)
- formulated supplementary foods for young children.
There are also requirements to meet if you manufacture dairy-based ingredients represented as intended for use in any of these products. This does not include ingredients that make up less than 5% of the final product.
Find the requirements in the Animal Products Notice: Manufacture of Dairy Based Infant Formula Products and Formulated Supplementary Foods for Young Children [PDF, 436 KB]
This notice covers:
- premises, equipment, and personnel
- cleaning and maintenance
- raw materials and formulations
- manufacture
- validation
- on-site verification.
You must also meet the regular requirements for dairy products. These are in the Animal Product Notice: Production, Supply and Processing [PDF, 3.1 MB]
