The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has approved 2 mediation organisations to offer services under the Farm Debt Mediation Act 2019. The organisations are:

Choosing a mediator
Farmers can choose 3 mediators from the list of authorised mediators. The farmer sends the mediators' contact details to their creditor. The creditor will then choose 1 of these 3 mediators, and contact them directly to offer them the mediation.

Becoming an authorised mediator
To become a farm debt mediator you must be authorised by an approved mediation organisation (AMO). AMOs can authorise mediators they believe meet the qualifications and competencies set by MPI.
AMOs charge a fee to process your application.

Becoming an AMO
Organisations must apply in writing to MPI to become an approved mediation organisation. They should include evidence that they meet the requirements, terms, and conditions to be an AMO.
There is no standard application form. Electronic copies of supporting documents are acceptable. There is no application fee.
