About the action plan
The 'Biosecurity system action plan' creates shared direction for people and organisations committed to strengthening New Zealand’s biosecurity system. Actions are expected to drive change where it is needed most, using collective effort and resources. We expect to have made significant progress towards delivery by 2030.

Protect our nation's economy, environment, society and cultures from pest and disease risks.

- Economic growth and safe trade and travel, including a secure food supply.
- Improved protection of valued species, human health, biodiversity, and ecosystems.

- Support collective action and effective partnerships that magnify our individual efforts and make innovative use of diverse knowledge, skills, and capabilities.
- Recognise and leverage the crosscutting nature of the biosecurity system and the inherent connections with the export economy, climate change, biodiversity, and health.
- Get fundamental systems, processes, and infrastructure right to enable future performance.
- Government agencies to fulfil their responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi.
