What is an annual logging plan
An annual logging plan tells us:
- the species and volume of trees you are going to harvest during the year
- your harvest methods
- where you are harvesting the timber
- any special logging requirements, such as directional felling
- the topography, including waterways, existing tracks and landings, and any tracks and landings you plan to create.
Who needs an annual logging plan
If you have a sustainable forest management plan or permit and are planning to harvest trees, you must submit an annual logging plan. The plan must be approved before you can harvest.

When to send your plan to us
You must send us an annual logging plan each year you plan to harvest. Do this as soon as you know you are going to harvest and have gathered all the required information. It’s free to submit an annual logging plan.
How to send your plan to us
Fill out the annual logging plan form and send it to our team. Include as much detail as you can to avoid delays. If you are not the forest owner, you must send us evidence that you have permission from the owner to act on their behalf.

How long does the plan last?
Annual logging plans last 12 months from the day of approval. If you have volume available and want to keep harvesting after the 12-month period, you must send us another annual logging plan.
After you apply
Once we have approved your plan, you can legally harvest and sell your timber.
You must keep a record of all timber harvested.
